INSTITUTIONAL DISTINCTIVENESS

The Vision of the college is to make “QUALITY” the defining element of teacher education through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, advancement and sustenance initiatives and transforming the learning community with its latest facilities, vibrant human resources, quality of teaching, research and service output.

In accordance with this, to inculcate physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual values and to protect the student teachers from the prevailing cultural crisis, during college day celebrations, the theatrical talents of the students are displayed through dramas, display boards and periodic value education classes and depiction of famous characters of the Holy Trinity. Regular practice of yoga cultivates their physical, mental and spiritual inner strengths, as propounded by Swami Vivekananda as Karmayoga (Hand), Gnanayoga (Head) and Bhakthiyoga (Heart), correlating with the institutional aims of harmonious development of Hand, Heart and Head. Students regularly speak in the morning assembly related to the life history of the holy trinity and higher values prevailed in ancient India. Student participation in various cultural programmes based on Indian epics and values exposes their talents. It facilitates the student teachers in their teaching career as well. Our college has signed MoUs with the Temple of Consciousness (Vedhathri Maharishi, Azhiyar, Pollachi) to develop emotional wellbeing among students.

On the lighting ceremony day, students are provided with the Founder President Swami Chidbhavananda Maharaj's ‘Daily Divine Digest’ and an oil lamp, symbolizing the spreading of all good thoughts into the society. The college celebrates Vivekananda’s Jayanthi as Youth Awakening Day, Sarada Devi’s birth anniversary, Ramakrishna Jayanthi, Antar Yogam, Founder Day, etc with vedic chanting, processions, and the cultural programmes in collaboration with our sister concerns in commemoration of the divine souls. It elicits great response from the local public and they participate in them enthusiastically. On these days, our students are involved in social service activities, such as Annadhanam in the name of Zero Hunger Day.

At the same time, our college is committed to offer a variety of innovative learning experiences, such as Language Lab, Digital Library, smart classrooms, Wi-Fi enabled campus, academic freedom and participatory research opportunities in which the students can blossom to the best of their capacity at par with global standards. The trainees use all kinds of latest ICT tools, to raise their confidence to become an effective digital citizen. The teaching-learning process and evaluation involves online techniques. It has been benchmarking its teaching and learning processes by increasing its boundary with other educational institutions through student exchange and collaborative endeavours. Many skill development programmes in line with NEP are also provided to the students.

The college offers copious experiences to teacher trainees. It caters to the educational needs of student teachers irrespective of economic status, caste, religion etc. It financially supports for their learning progress by fee waivers to the needy candidates resulting in a significant social upliftment.

Thus, since its inception SSCE has been progressing towards modernity without compromising its old traditions. These practices propel the institution in the promising path of spirituality mixed with modernity.
