Programmes Offered

1. B.Ed.

Women graduates and post-graduates who are qualified in the UG and PG courses are eligible to apply for B.Ed. degree course. The basis of selection of candidate for admission shall be based on the existing regulations of the university/Government of Tamil Nadu. Reservation of seats and other concessions for the SC., ST., MBC / DNC, BC, and other special categories of candidates notified by the Government of Tamil Nadu shall be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Government of Tamil Nadu in force from time to time.

Allotment of candidates as per rank, communal and other reservations and the availability of seats per subject to the college are made through Single Window System of Counselling conducted by the Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed. Admissions, Directorate of Collegiate Education, Chennai. Admission is done as per the norms of the Tamil Nadu Government following 69% reservation policy. The said reservation policy is strictly adhered in the admission rules for each subject. Admission Committee at the college will verify the original certificates at the time of admission.

2. M.Ed.

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the course leading to the Degree of Master of Education provided she had passed a Bachelor Degree Examination in Education of this University or some other University recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 50% marks in theory and practical separately.

As per the guidelines for admission to B.Ed course of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai, 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study is required to be followed.

Further B.Com and B.A (Economics) is not eligible degree for admission to B.Ed., degree course. Hence B.Com.Ed., and B.A.Ed., cannot be recognized undergraduate course in Education. Therefore B.Com.Ed., are not eligible for admission to M.Ed course.

No candidate shall be eligible for the Degree of M.Ed. unless she has completed the prescribed course of study and has passed the qualifying examination and has satisfied the Examiners in a dissertation.

Duration

The course of study shall be for duration of TWO academic years. There will be 10 days for admission. For examination 10 days will be allotted for first year and 10 days for second year. The entire course work will be for 2400 Hours

3. M.Phil. (Education)

An Entrance Test and Interview would be administered for all the applicants and the performance in that would be taken into account along with the marks scored in M.Ed. The written Test would comprise 25 Objective type questions carrying 1 mark each. Two essay type questions for 25 marks each and the Interview would carry 25 marks. The marks secured in written test and interview will be added to the marks obtained in the M.Ed. Degree examinations (external marks percentage in Theory, reduced to a maximum of 25) and accordingly the rank list will be prepared (for 125 marks). No Entrance test for students who have cleared NET / SLET Examinations.

Course of Study

The course of study for the degree shall consist of (a) Part – I comprising three written papers according to the syllabus prescribed from time to time; and (b) Part – II Dissertation.

Part – I shall consist of Paper – I Research Methodology and Paper – II An Advanced paper in the main subject. There shall also be a third paper which shall be the background paper relating to the proposed Dissertation.

Reservation of Seats

Reservation of Seats for candidates belonging to BC, MBC / DNC, SC and ST communities will be made as per the rules and regulations of the Tamil Nadu Government.

4. Ph.D. (Education) - (Both full time and part time)
